BioMental at Puerto Rico’s 18th Cumbre de Salud Mental

Speakers and participants at Puerto Rico’s 18th Cumbre de Salud Mental

On September 10, BioMental participated in the 18th Cumbre de Salud Mental, presented by the Asociación de Hospitales de Puerto Rico. The summit brought together mental health professionals and healthcare leaders to discuss improving care for Puerto Rico’s older adult population, with a focus on clinical challenges, continuity of care, and emerging treatments.

Dr. Alina Galliano-Pardo, Medical Director of BioMental, spoke on the use of Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (Deep TMS) in geriatric patients. Her presentation highlighted TMS as a noninvasive treatment option for treatment-resistant depression and contributed to the broader discussion of expanding treatment options for older adults.

BioMental also introduced our practice to Puerto Rico’s mental health professional community at our information booth, where our team connected with local providers and shared information about our services. These relationships are especially important as BioMental prepares to open our new Puerto Rico clinic within the next few weeks, expanding access for patients and opportunities for collaboration with local providers.

We are grateful to the Asociación de Hospitales de Puerto Rico for the opportunity to participate. The Cumbre was an important step in BioMental’s growing presence in Puerto Rico and our commitment to supporting patients and the broader mental health community.
